Day 331, Disgusted is done! Silly has a rework that I like enough to try inking and coloring, and I think I've officially decided I want to do some changes to WTF?! and Triumph, specifically in the hands and arms because they've always looked weird to me. Mostly Triumph's hands, but WTF's double-jointedness is also a little offputting (I don't think I executed that pose very well so I've gotta try again)

Disclaimer: it seems like the size of the ship changes every time we see it, but the newest eps vs wano seem pretty consistent so I went with that and used Wire's height for scale

Layout based on the 31 member crew that Oda confirmed. I also took in to account that a significant portion of the members are fucking massive, so everything is bigger which matches the scale it's drawn in. Floors are approx 5m high with 2m wide doors in most places, which makes sense when a good portion of the crew are 3m tall.

The specifics:

Kid's Floor

Of course he has his own floor

Quarters include his own private dining space which I imagine would also include a workdesk, bedroom with king sized bed and probably a couch, walk in closet, and bathroom definitely large enough for a massive tub

Workshop also has bathroom entrance for when he's feelin lazy

Ladder space in the middle goes straight through, this is so crew going to the castle deck don't access his floor

Commander's floor

Heat, Wire and Killer have their own rooms and a private lounge just for them and Kid

Heat and Wire share a large bathroom, definitely big enough for normal bath

Heat and Killer have king sized beds, Wire's bed is almost as wide as a king but mostly it's made especially long

Small decking that runs the whole way around, unspoken rule that crew aren't allowed there since windows peer into commander's rooms

Killer could probably fit a drumkit in his room 👀

Cannon Deck

We get peeks of this in the anime and in Oda's notes but they're fuzzy so I just did my best

Made a mistake tho, cannon platform should be whole way around back like a U shape to account for 3 cannons facing backwards, total 9 cannons

Theoretically this is where the helm should be so uh that's where I put it

Main deck

Forecastle includes navigation room with bookcases, central table, and desk for paperwork

Forecastle also has infirmary with two longer than normal beds to account for larger crewmates, and a desk for crew doctor to keep notes

Door between nav and infirmary cos Kid is lazy

Kitchen and pantry. Given the rooms are 5m from floor to ceiling I imagine that pantry would have a small mezzanine accessed by a ladder to take advantage of vertical space (and would be a sick place to nap)

Galley/dining hall contains 3 bench style tables, seating 10 large crewmates each, with one extra fancy chair at the end of one for Kid

Lower deck

Did my best to do some math to figure out how many larger than normal beds were required and decided on 6 bunks for 12 larger crewmates

Additional rooms for average sized crewmates include 4 rooms with 2 bunks each, and one room with 1 bunk, making for a total of 30 beds below deck. That means, counting the commanders for the 31, there are currently 3 empty beds, so a few rooms aren't complete full

Probably looks like fuck all space but its actually significant for a ship living quarters

According to google you only need 1 toilet per 10 people and 1 shower per 40 but that seems like BS. Bathroom has 4 large, accessible sized toilets, 4 showers, long benches down the center and a long counter with plenty of space and mirrors for makeup, given how many crewmates wear it

Also, storage room. Could be converted to extra room for another bunk

Hold

Access via ladder

4 cells. No toilets, you get a bucket ✌️ tbh might not even have beds but there's room for em anyway

Desk in case they need to keep an eye on prisoners

3 storage rooms, but i think one of these would actually be a torture room. Probably the one by the desk.

Mechanisms for power and water are probably in one of these rooms as well as a lot of materials for ship repairs

Also of note

Crows nest is definitely big enough for a bench, definitely big enough for... activities. Not as big as the Sunny's though I dont think a gym would fit, I think it'd be more likely that gym equipment is kept on the cannon deck

Idk if the mizzenmast is supposed to go all the way through but that physically can't happen with where the helm needs to be based on screenshots so ✌️

Crows nests are definitely access via climbing nets

Gaining Affinity points is like pulling teeth and the diamonds are the thing that motivates me. I see him being sweet and don't believe a single word. If I had the option I would throw him paperballs every time I saw him, just to show my blatant displeasure and disrespect.

If I was the MC I would 100% find a way to fight my way to a top ladder, get myself a reputation, gain my bargaining chips and set myself as his equal so he no longer has any hold over me, or at least make it so it's not wise for him to cross me either/it's wiser to keep me on his side.

When Phil (the Shopkeeper) told him MC probably felt disgusted by him Sylus looked SO indignant it was glorious, and when he said she had to accept him I outright cackled.

You only shake your head, “not really, it’s my first time hearing about it.” 

Deity! Na Jaemin

“I’m just kidding yn,” he took it back immediately. “I was just curious about the human who was lured by the spirits.” 

“Why would you be curious, I’m just an ordinary girl,” you laughed. 

“You got lured in your sleep,” Jaemin pointed out. From there, you watch as he removes a ring from his finger and drops it on the palm of your hand. “Wear it, it’s a protection.”

But you only sheepishly smiled as you returned it to him. “I don’t believe in spells and protective objects Jaemin, I’ll be okay.” 

“I insist,” Jaemin gives it back to you. “What if I’m not there in the woods? It has my power, they’ll know that you’re under my protection.” 

You only let out a sigh as you looked at the golden ring. It looks old, carved like the root of a tree with a peridot gem in the middle. You slipped on your ring finger and was surprised that it fits perfectly. 

Vampire! Zhong Chenle 

“What do you mean?”

“You can be honest with me, if your friends just made a bet to date me or something, you can now tell me because I don’t have any plans of making myself look like a fool,” you explained, letting out a small sigh. “If you’re doing this because you’re bored, find another girl.”

“You got to stop reading romance novels in your past time,” Chenle mocked instead. “I’m not that type of guy yn, if you want, fine I like you.” 

“Stop fooling around —”

“I’m not, and if you find yourself doubting me, it’s okay,” Chenle said with a serious tone. “Because I’ll prove to you that my intentions are genuine.”

Alien! Park Jisung

You watched as he scrolled through the book, opening a page that he seems to be familiar with. 

“Alien,” he muttered. “That’s me right?” 

You only nod, watching for his reaction. He seems to be confused with it. 

“Well, if I was on your planet, I’m the alien,” you said with a joking tone. 

“Oh, that makes sense,” Jisung said. He glances at the window, and the room falters into silence. 

“Do you miss them Jisung?” you asked.

He then looks at you and smiles, showing off his sharp canines. “I do, but you’re here. That’s why I don’t feel lonely at all.”

How I bound my fic

Disclaimer. I watched like three you tube videos (one of which is here) and this is like my fourth or fifth time that I've bound anything. I don't think I'm doing things correctly and in those steps I will be pointing that out.

This is going to be long so I'm going to tuck the rest under the cut.

Formatting your text block.

I spent so long working on my text block(s). It got easier with each one I did. I work in MS office.

My page size is set to 8.5" by 5.5" because that is half the size of a standard piece of printer paper. I put the margins on the smallest possible because the site I use to organize the pages into signatures tends to add a bit of a margin.

I use this to make my signatures. I got this original link from a reddit post about book binding. (I thought I had a link to it but I can't seem to find it.) I tend to have my signatures made with 16 pages, which is 4 sheets of paper. You'll need to make an account (it's free) and make a copy of this project to add your own pdfs to. It automatically puts them in order and the pages on the same sheet of paper.

You'll want to print your pages double sided. I use the base setting for my printer (because when I fucked with it they came out wrong) so you might want to test print a signature before making your printer run a full copy.

"I have all my pages printed. Now what?"

Folding, punching, and sewing your text block.

It's exactly what it sounds like. Fold all of your signatures. I like to use the back of a sharpie to get a nice crease on the spine edge (and to save my fingers the pain).

I use this handy guide and the awl that came with it now, but the process can be completed by making a guide on a piece of paper and punching holes with a thumbtack or straight pin.

Once that's done it's time to sew. I have no clue what the stitch I use is called. I just made it up as I went along and it turned out pretty.

the edge stitches (after coming back to the edge of the spine) get slipped between the last two signatures. I think this is a French stitch? no clue. Then the short ones loop back through the last stitch once while the long ones go through the last twice. makes a pretty ladder. (did I mention I know basically nothing about binding or how to make text instructions?)

Glue is your friend. Not your enemy.

SO this first picture is everything I use to case in my text block.

Use a thin line of glue to attach your end pages. I have to cut mine down to the correct size and I use a small paper cutter because I can't cut a straight line to save my life.

Then basically smoosh your text block under some heavy books or put it a book press. Paint the spine with a lot of glue. like multiple coats.

Go ahead and add your headband and a ribbon if you want a bookmark built in.

(also most people use a cloth on the spine but I keep forgetting to buy that so I use scraps from my end papers to cover the spine. I know this isn't the correct way but it's worked out somewhat okay for me.)

I'm glad I didn't fuck up with a box cutter.

So I've got some shitty math scribbled on a piece of paper for you guys.

you want to add 1/4 of an inch (or 6mm) to the length of your cover board. (5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches becomes 5 1/2 x 8 3/4 inches).

The spine is the width of spine + 1 board. I use a chip board that was sold near the cricuts in Michael's currently but I have used card board in the past.

Trace measurements, cut. I precut with my paper cutter then go the rest of the way with my box cutter.

Space hinges.

I use a little hinge spacer I found on amazon. People 3d print them too and sell them on etsy or you can cut another piece of chipboard for this.

my hinges are 5mm and honestly... I'd probably go bigger if I could. I'm just too lazy and want to work with what I've got.

Biggest tip. Use painter's tape to test fit your hinges. I fucked up tho and used an automotive painters tape and it wouldn't come off.

Gluing everything together.

I wrap my cover boards in a card stock and use book cloth on the spine. I prefer this look and it comes out pretty good all things considered.

Highly recommend watching a professional doing this on you tube rather than me trying to type instructions.

Glue it together and let it sit under all of your books/in your press for a while.

Kissed first/initiated: in my head, Laios makes the first move (he's less emotionally conspitated) but something has to force his hand to do so bc there's no WAY he's going to break a boundary like that without there being something at stake.

Ideal modern au: I rotate this around in my head a lot and I literally can't decide. I think it's a tie between vet assistant/animal shelter worker Laios and Normal Ass Salaryman Chilchuck. Tho I'm also very stuck to single dad union construction worker/handyman chilchuck who works too many damn jobs to take care of his kids and hardware store employee laios who sees chilchuck way too damn often to not be interested. If that's not the case and you're actually a lot more frail, then he'll pretty much be a human shield for you so that you don't die He'll be constantly screaming for a medic bag, but not for himself, but rather for you so that he makes sure that there's medical supplies at the ready if you get hurt

While off-duty, he just loves to spend time with you. Playing games, drawing, pretty much anything

You're always so bubbly and happy, even during his bad days you always manage to find a way to cheer him up and make him smile

Hoxton

Again, you're a little bundle of sunshine for Hoxton, but the difference is that he'll actually tease you about it

He'll often call you sweet nicknames, but the ones he calls you by most are 'Sunshine' and 'Sweetheart'

If you're struggling to do something like reach something on a high shelf or lift a heavy object, he'll end up doing it for you with a cheeky remark "Sweetheart, if you need a ladder then just call for me."

If you're extreme on the field, he'll try his best to lay off on the teasing so that he doesn't get a bullet right between the eyes "Hey Sweetcheeks, run a little faster would ya- okay okay I'm sorry please put the Garand away-"

If that's not the case, then he'll be pretty similar to Dallas. He'll do anything to make sure that you get hurt

If you so much as get a tear on one of your knee-highs or one of your accessories gets damaged, he'll murder the one who broke it and make sure to take it to Aldstone for fixing the second you get back from the heist

But on the more sweet side, he'll do his best to spend time with you. He'll drop anything and everything to join you if you're baking though

Either because your treats are really good or he doesn't trust you to not burn the safe house down

Houston

Houston can and will tease you about your height, and sometimes he’ll jokingly question the practicality of your fit during battle

If you’re an aggressive bean, he won’t hesitate to zip his mouth when you threateningly point your Commando-101 directly at him

If not, he’ll just continue with his teasing. In both situations, he’ll eventually tone down on the teasing, especially with your bubbly behavior

The sparkle in your eyes when something catches your attention, your genuine worry when he gets hurt, your enthusiasm to make sure he gets back into the game, gAHH someone please put this man into the freezer because he’s MELTED

Can and will find any excuse to hold you. Whether it be lifting you up to reach something high or carrying you to safety during a heist. Just seeing your small figure adorned in such adorable and bright clothes really makes his day

It’s like a big contrast compared to all the bloodshed and other horrifying things that he’s unfortunately gotten used to. You’re just his little marshmallow

Jimmy

Legit thought he was trippin when he saw you walk in wearing your bright pastel fit. Then again, he’s always trippin

But like- he was so confused. In a good way though? He was shocked to see such a contrast in what would usually a dumb and sober world.

For a minute he thought you were a hallucination from all the coke he’s been snorting, but eventually he finally gets the memo that you are indeed real

Jimmy legit thinks that you’re an angel or something, so that’s what he calls you.

If you’re a more chaotic one during heists, then he’ll refer to you as Guardian Angel and help you slay all the cops

If that’s not the case, he does his damnedest to protect you from harm’s way. If you or even your outfit gets damaged, he immediately goes ham

Sokol

“Why are you dressed up like little baby?” Was the first thing he said to you. He was so confused about your attire, and your behavior confused him more

How the fuck can you stay so cheerful while you’re stealing nuclear weapons??

At some point, he starts to appreciate your optimism, as it helps to get through heists and life in general. Hell, he might even join you in the encouragement

He’s still confused about the clothes though, and he’ll keep asking about it too. If you end up taking his words personally, he’ll fucking PANIC and do anything to make you feel better

The second he saw tears his mind went into ‘oh my god the world is ending’ mode and frantically attempted to make you feel better [which he did]

Though still not understanding the whole fashion thing, he does his best not to ask about it any further

Taser

LITERALLY STIMMING WHEN HE SEES YOU LIKE HELP THIS MAN PLEAS E

Istg Taser is like a fucking 4 year old so when he seed you wearing those adorable strawberry themed clothes and shoes he just can’t help but bombard you with compliments

If you’re chaotic in battle, this man will get so distracted watching you fight that he’ll end up tasing himself two times before realizing what the hell is going on

He’ll put you in all sorts of pastel outfits, a lot of them with lightning bolt themes, and this mf will just swoon when he sees you in it. He’ll die [/pos] if you wear it more often

Dozer will actually encourage you to paint his helmet or add cute little accessories to that and his armor so that you two can slay together!

Medic

You are the one thing that keeps this man from going insane and torching down the entire police force

When he's having a hard day, all he has to do is look at you and whoops the pain is gone

Literally a painkiller

Weak or strong, he'll make sure to be behind you for most of the battle. Sure there's other units in need of healing but you're top priority

He'll go Cloaker feral if anyone [especially the Payday gang] hurts you or even does so much as get their filthy hands on your awesome fit

He'll be the one to wash and/or repair your outfits because oh my god your clothes look expensive, but not in a fancy way. More of a "I spent 100 bucks on Shein to get all of this shit"

Medic also likes to make outfits for you himself. He'll either sew or buy them and encourage you to try them on

FEAR: What is your OC's greatest fear? What do they do when confronted with it? Are they open with their fear, or do they hide it away?

Ebis: Okay, so, I don't know if I'd call it her "greatest fear", but she's actual-meaning-of-the-word triggered by darkness. She doesn't exactly remember it, but just before loosing her memories, she had an accident during an exploration mission. An ancient ladder gave out beneath her and she had a nasty fall in which she badly hit her head. Her torch broke in the fall, so it was pitch-black as she slowly bleeded out, unable to move or speak and convinced she was gonna die there where no one would ever find her. She doesn't remember exactly, but she has nightmares about being in the darkness, in pain, helpless and feeling doomed. She hates the darkness because it takes her back to a moment she can't remember, but her body does; she will feel that same doom and pain when she's in the dark.

She feels quite silly about this fear, and it takes Marcus directly asking her about it for her to share it. I don't think she would otherwise be open about it with others, as she doesn't want to be judged as childish or have to tell about her trauma to get taken seriously.

Marcus: To be abandoned, left alone, left behind. Marcus has always been a solitaire man who struggles to connect to other people, and he's had some bad experiences with getting close/working along other people. His fianceé died, which broke him, and when he started working in the Submachine, it only led to betrayal. Murtaugh never careed about him, Elizabeth couldn't save him, nobody came back for him. He has gone through so much isolation, both self-imposed and forced on him, but truth is man hates every second of it. So when he meets Ebis, the fear is there "what if I'm alone again?". He eventually voices this fear to her. I believe with time and lots of therapy he'd learn to manage this fear, even if not make it disappear completely. Make it not be this all consuming thing but this fucking annoyance he has to deal with. He'll be okay is what I'm saying.

MASK: Does your OC wear a mask, literally or figuratively? What goes on beneath it? Is there anyone in their life who gets to see who they are under the mask?

Ebis: She always puts on a cheerful, driven, optimistic front. This is not because she believes everything will resolve in the end, but because she cannot bear to think about the possibility of something going wrong. So she. keeps. moving. Always and no matter what. Even if that reckless path leads to a worse place, she cannot bear to stop because then she'd have to confront her fear. So instead, she pushes on, convinces herself that things will turn for the better if she just keeps going, no matter how reality doesn't match up with that. Awesome resilience, not so awesome avoidance. She will work on this once out of the Submachine tho (both Marcus and her have so much therapy to do), and she is open to Marcus about this.

Marcus: Not really, this man can't mask to save his life xD Closest thing I can think of is... not many people get to really know him. Not because he's actively avoiding it, but man's reserved and has a resting bitch face. So yeah, most people see him as this tol, serious man that looks like he hasn't slept in two weeks, and don't know he's actually a cinamon roll. Ahh, but that assumption fades as soon as they see him around Ebis. Can you see that? The man is capable of smiling! And he looks kinda cute all lovingly looking at his wife. Aww <3

As for Lullaby and Requiem, gosh I haven't thought about them in forever, they're son undeveloped, all aesthetics and like two random facts, halp xD I don't know if I'll be able to answer the questions, but I can talk a bit about them:

Okay, so, for those who don't know Requeim and Lullaby are characters from a word divided in two opposing factions, fighters and dancers. I will put more info under the cut but for now:

Lullaby is a dancer, very skilled from a young age, a gifted kid you could say, and she's one of the best dancer of her village. Kinda elite stuff. Dancer villages can be pretty hierarchic with their dancer: who's the best, who's a beginner, who's not even a dancer. Their communal dancing really reflects that in what role everyone has in the performance depending on at what skill they are.

I think she could be afraid of being told she's not worthy/skilled anough to perform anymore, or that she never actually was. To be rejected specifically becaue the one thing she's poured so much time and effort into perfecting is still not enough and she was just being humoured the whole time. So, gifted kid into adult with imposter syndrome huh.

Requiem is a fighter, a good and skilled fighter, but not particularly "gifted". Not that fighter communities work the same as dancer villages. Fighters aren't so hierarchic, you teach what you can and learn what you can and you're strong together. Their communal fighting is something anyone can join for a good time and to learn, you don't have to be skilled.

I'm... not sure what would be Requiem's greatest fear, to be honest. He grew ina pretty chill and healthy enironment, and as far as I know nothing terrible has happened to him? I mean I guess his fear would be something related to harm coming to his community? But also I don't see him contemplating and getting lost into that possibility. It's why he fights tho. So maybe more than a fear is a motivation? I don't even know man, I'm just thinking aloud at this point.

Okay, so, more lore about fighters and dancers:

Both fighting and dancing are, at the same time, a weapon and an art, something used to harm, but also something pretty to enjoy. Between just fighters, or between just dancers, they can fight/dance recreationally. But if a fighter and dancer fight/dance together, a brush of the skin is enough to cause injury whether they mean to or not. This is the one of the big reasons of why fighters and dancers are at war, believing their very natures to be opposing. It wasn't always like that, tho, there was a time were they were not at war with each other (but everything changed when the fire nation attacked xD).

Requiem and Lullaby first meet at the Battlefield of Lost sounds, a wasteland in a neutral zone where fighter/dancer have been waging wars for generations. I think they meet when the battle has already dissolved, they were sticking around taking a look at the aftermath (also I think the Battlefield has been used for so long and has so much history for both factions that it might be something akin to a sacred place by this point? Why is it still a place for war then? Well, because how you treat sacred looks different in this world, thing is there might have stayed behind for spiritual reflection or something).

Anyway, thing is the two of them meet, and they recognize the other as a dancer/fighter, so they do what they were taught to do. They engage in battle, but the battle is also a performance, and they connect. Rivals but not enemies. Can't help but hurt each other but not supposed to hate each other. So they start fighting/dancing without touching the other, to avoid injuries. And by the end, they come to a sort of understandment. Lullaby still belong to the dancer village, Requiem still belongs to the fighter community, but they will not engage in battle with each other anymore. And they want to learn from each other.

Eventually, they end up forming a team of sorts with just the two of them. I don't know how that pans out in the larger picture/what their relationship to their respective homes will be like after that, but yeah. This is about everything I know.

My quick overview of Money in the Bank! Overall, it was a pretty good show. 7/10⭐

So happy that Iyo won the women's match. Love her 💜 Zoey was my sleeper pick to 2 win but I don't quite think she's ready yet. Trish is making her better every week tho. Iyo and Bayley are gonna have some drama now. I know it! The handcuff spot ending was great! I loved the creativity. Zelina showed out with that Code Red from the top of the ladder. And all the ladies where serving this their gear. As they should.

Gunther kicked Riddles ass, as he should. The match was good and Gunther looked great as always. Drew coming back was the highlight of that segment. He and Gunther are gonna kick the crap out of one another soon. And I honestly see Drew as the one to dethrone Gunther. Perhaps with some help from The Brawling Brutes again since Vinci and Kaiser are still a factor.

Surprise ! John Cena showed up and hinted that Mania may be in London in the future. My Aussie husband Grayson showed up and he and Cena had a good promo battle. Possible Cena/Grayson match in the future?? Because I'd love to see that when Grayson's leg is good to go. Grayson had a killer shirt on as always. That's one more to add to my wardrobe when I've got money.

Finn and Seth put on a banger match. Kinda wished it was Demon! Finn tho. Judgment Day is so clearly gonna break up soon and I am all for it. Finn needs to be free of the shit Rhea and Dom have going on. So does Damian. Personally, I think that Finn should start tagging with JD McDonagh and Damian should get a singles run.

Not a huge Cody fan but he kicked Dom's annoying ass so yay Cody! The match was okay. I've always found Cody kinda eh. And Dom's character with Rhea is just annoying.

Didn't really care for the tag match until Shayna pulled a GOATED move and smacked Rhonda up. Hopefully this either means Rhonda is gonna be gone for a while or Shayna is gonna give her the work in a full match/fued. Also, I'm happy for Liv getting the belt back. Don't really care for Raquel 🫠

Bloodline Civil War was a great match! Jimmy and Jey both showed out and proved that Roman is slowly becoming irrelevant. Loved seeing my man Solo kick ass! (even if it was his bro's ass😭) That's my man and I can't wait for him to drop Roman and get back on the same page with his bros. Romans's time on top is coming to an end and I can't wait for him to drop the belts. I'm a shield stan for life. But that man has become so bland both with his promos and his in-ring work. It's time for someone else to have the belt and be on top. I 100% think that Jey should be the one to dethrone him. Poetic Justice if you will.

The men's ladder match was 🔥🔥🔥. Shoutout to my man Ricochet for putting Logan through that table with that amazing spot. Shinsuke and Butch both looked really solid in the match. Hopefully, they'll let Shin get more screen time. (also let Pat come back. I miss him jamming out to Shin's music) Logan was okay in the match. His ring work is getting better. He works well as a heel and I loved the boys all ganging up on him. (not a Logan hater. Just thought it was funny) Damian did solid work. He was my sleeper pick and I didn't mind him winning. Though my husband LA Knight should HAVE WON THE MATCH!! Triple H will be hearing from my therapist. Papa Trip hinted after the show that Knight is gonna get a push soon because of all the attention he's getting. I can see him going after Austin's US championship since Theory's run is dry as hell and it's about time he dropped the belt.

just for the record: it's going to be buddie, obviously, it's just gonna focus heavily around shannon, too - it's actually alternating pov between shannon, eddie and buck - by chapter tho, I don't like switching povs mid-chapter haha

the idea started bc I was tired of the discourse and hate on Shannon (which I saw all over again when they mentioned her in s6) bc she doesn't deserve it, and since I first watched the show I always just felt so bad for her - so I started to think about her a lot, and since then the idea was just growing and growing until I finally started writing a few months ago!

it's kinda a rewrite of canon, where everything more or less happens, except shannon survives the accident, she and eddie get divorced and learn how to be friends and co-parents, and buck's not sure where he fits into it until he and shannon also become friends, and he's co-parenting with both of them like he does with eddie in canon

(also, while she's recovering from the accident, she stays with eddie - he insisted - and then when buck's recovering from the bombing, he's also gonna stay with eddie - eddie insisted lol - he likes to take care of the people he loves okay 😂)

it's kind of a challenge bc I don't know how to write buddie dynamic in s2 (I mean, they were always *like that* but it hasn't been this intense then lol) bc my rewatch isn't going well haha - and also writing them fall in love, instead of already in love and oblivious, is also new to me so it's gonna be fun to figure out haha

rn I'm finishing chapter 3, which is when the ladder truck bombing happens, but it's such a mess full of notes and comments and highlights I can barely look at the doc, but already started cleaning it up! so more snippets coming soon!

There’s so much of both of them in him – obviously, he’s their kid, it just hits her all over again sometimes, that they made this incredible little human. If there’s one good thing that came out of their relationship, it’s Christopher. “Are you and dad breaking up again?” “Oh.” Eddie exhales softly. Yeah, Shannon gets it. She hoped whatever was happening between them over the last few weeks, the sneaking around, sex, kissing, I-love-yous, falling back into a relationship, or trying to – that they hid it well from him, trying to figure it out between them before telling Chris anything. But, well, their kid is smart and perceptive, and of course he’s noticed something. Or maybe it’s just the fact that she came back into their lives, and they were a family again, and what child wouldn’t think that meant their parents are getting back together?

Rant about Spy x Family & Covert Affairs (found on Amazon Prime):

**I am watching the anime and have not read the manga yet

***This is long and you might want to skip my rambling but I felt the need to get it out

Okay, I have a little rant about Spy Family cause I keep seeing posts and it's aggravating me just a little but people keep pointing out that while Loid is getting more and more comfortable with Yor and Anya, his ability as a spy is diminishing. But I recently just rewatched Covert Affairs S1 and honestly, he's not becoming less of a spy but rather more of one.

Allowing truth to bleed into your lies makes your lies stronger and his family is not necessarily a lie with all the (forged) paperwork. His emotions being genuine bleeds through not only his act as a family man but Anya's and Yor's acts as well. Anya is a kid that obviously cannot lie well and his treatment, his relationship with her is how best he's going to influence her when she is out on her own representing them.

He also makes a point to always remind Yor she is part of the family because 1) she is and 2) in order for her to play her part, she has to believe in her role, that's going to allow others to believe their family tho it's also fair to assume her role will be more stepmom rather than mom.

This is a spy's life, managing assets in the field and expanding connections, all things Loid has given Twilight access to. A respected job, a daughter that goes to a prestigious school, and a wife that works in public service. He now has access to communities he might not have had before and more importantly, he has access long-term. No one can possibly question why he's hanging around this area for so long or perhaps not trying to move up the ladder because he's a family man devoted to his wife and his child's care. His child is in a very well respected school and his wife is a local (per the Handler).

In comparison, Annie Walker works at the Smithsonian and is a linguist which allows her to travel and she is comfortable traveling from previous experience. It gives her a way in with people but she also shares with others (typically other agents but sometimes assets) that she has a family waiting back at home, she's human too, with loved ones and that's what Twilight is finally becoming in my eyes is indeed the perfect spy.

I also feel like from some of the clips we do see before he gets to Operation Strix, he operated on almost an assassin basis rather than a spy. At least, from watching Covert Affairs, I see spies as managers in the field and collectors of intel. These spies in Spy x family might take on more of a dual role, I'm not sure.

I'd also like to point out that this is probably Twilight's first long-term mission. Long-term as in over a year. He could stay as Loid Forger indefinitely so long as he remains within valuable communities that allow him opportunities for WISE. And, while others call him the greatest spy of the West, we have no idea how he handled missions before Strix, and from what I can see of the missions he does alongside Strix, he probably messes up a lot more than we credit him. BUT, his success rate is high because he knows how to catch himself (and charm his way out), and once more, he probably never did a mission this long before so I doubt he knows how to handle himself when things he said last year come back to him because typically, his mission would already be over with.

And to address the Handler, we see her express emotion about the mission. She admitted to once having a daughter. That's probably why she joined WISE. All spies there seem to despise war and want only to bring peace. This is personal in their own way and that's why they must remind themselves to keep emotions out of their decision-making. That doesn't mean to suppress themselves or their compassion but do not let the heart rule on decisions that could be the key to a peaceful tomorrow and a war. I have yet to see her rule on the thought of emotions being bad (have not seen the manga yet) and Twilight also seems to have some qualms about his emotions during missions but Nightfall is the only one that I've seen take it so far and the others around her make note that is too far. That's not expected or required of them. In fact, her suppression of emotion can probably make some of her missions more difficult for her and other agents. And, it also means her inability to properly handle her emotions leads her to nearly compromise Twilight's mission.

Back to Annie Walker, we see her struggle with her emotions (she is a rookie after all) in the field. That's why she has Auggie (her handler) and Joan (her boss). Their job is to keep Annie focused and Annie's job is to keep her assets safe and focused so intel goes back to the CIA. But, Joan knows that the life of a spy is difficult especially with family and friends not knowing the truth. That's why Joan demands Annie takes a vacation, why she's watching closely, because the minute an operative snaps, they're gone. They either leave or they go rogue (seen in S1 with other agents). A handler has to know their operative better than anyone else so that when operatives reach the end of their rope, the handle can pull them back into safety.

I think The Handler knows Twilight all too well and that's honestly a good thing. and I think one reason for that is she will bear herself to him like she did speaking of her daughter and he bears a little of himself back. There's mutual respect and trust. If nothing else, an alliance that makes this possible. And, ensures Twilight doesn't go off the deep end. With his family around him now, I think this might make it easier to keep him focused, centered, and motivated.

Work was tiresome today. But overall it was good. Coworkers could tell I was tired or that something was off about me. My eyes felt puffy and were watery at different times during my shift. They probably wanted to ask if I was okay but they didn't for whatever reason. I know I can be stoic at times at work, it's just I'm stressed at work all the time because it's nonstop work I can't even chat with people much. Another coworker told me they have the hardest department in the store and I'm sure they have their days but we have our days like every single day like everyday us runners got to be on top of case calls or else customers get impatient and sometimes they're understanding and very kind, bless those people, but you never know what your gonna get. Idk I don't have much to say about today. Idc who's got it the hardest bc at the end of it all departments suck. Except maybe frozen. It's a one man job and it's doable. I kinda miss it. Way less stressful too. But it does have stressful times for damn sure too. But fuck it was nice to have privacy on the job and I love me my privacy as an introvert. I would be in there and sing my favorite songs. I sang so much Kanye west and practicing singing Spanish songs by bad bunny. And since the freezer was loud bc of the fans that blow cold air it was nice to allow myself to be a little loud myself. It was perfect to even rant about the type of day I was having and blow off steam in there before I came back out to stock the meat. Good times good times. Man I miss them. I've tried getting back into it bc of all the stress it was giving me when I started off because HOLY SHIT was it stressful I almost fainted so many fucking times. I got dizzy so many fucking times it's crazy I didn't just drop. And my supervisor says how is it stressful LMAOOOOOO I wanted to kms bruh. But that same manager turned out to be really cool. I secretly like seeing others stressed out on the job bc why the fuck am I seeing people chilling tf out on the clock? Are they getting paid to bullshit? And that's from the supposed hardest department yeah that's cap bruh lol. Fuck it tho. I just hate to feel like I'm one of the few who busts their ass. You know who has it hardest? The cart pushers!! They work in the fucking heat bruh. The cart pusher wears a hat to deal with the heat lol not a basic hat I mean those hats that look like a UFO. I hope he gets paid well for his troubles. Probably not tho. Nobody does except managers but I guess they earned it since they climbed the ladder and have greater responsibility. So hey I guess that's fair when I put it like that.
